Why Digital Media place BACIL technology in the palm of members hands

Why Digital Media and BACIL (Business Against Crime in Leeds) have taken steps to make Leeds a safer place this month by developing the first stages of a mobile version of the BACIL crime reduction system.

Managed by West Yorkshire Police and Leeds City Council to help its members reduce crime and anti-social behaviour in Leeds, the BACIL secure online system allows users to communicate, view and monitor potential threats in real time right across the city. The new mobile version of the system has been developed using the latest technologies for all smart phone and mobile tablet devices.

Speaking about these latest developments, BACIL's Crime Manager, Sean Walker commented and said "The new mobile site is a massive leap forward for crime reduction in Leeds. Not only does it deliver the functionality of the main BACIL system in the palm of members hands it allows them to access a wealth of information whilst on the move. From the early beta tests I've seen, I'm really looking forward to seeing the finished product as this will give members more tools for making their locations safer for the people of Leeds."

The BACIL system has been developed and fully optimised to work efficiently on mobile devices with internet connections such as 2G, GPRS, EDGE, 3G, HSPA, HSPA+ and 4G. The benefits are that members can access all the back-end functionality and features of the main BACIL system regardless of how low or demanding the users internet connect is.

Garry Kearnan, Why Digital Media's Systems Developer commented and said "The BACIL mobile site is a real breakthrough in marrying functionality and technology with the latest web standards to produce a crime reduction system second to none right across the UK."

The BACIL mobile system is due to be fully launched within Leeds City Centre in Summer 2013.
